CK TEAM MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
Name: Rachel Stewart Position: Construction Professional
Rachel is our piano playing Project Management extraordinaire who is also proficient in American Sign Language. Besides those skills, if Rachel had a super power it would be telekinesis, mostly to clean her house. Rachel was drawn to CK because of the people. During her interview, she got to meet a lot of the CK team and join in team activities right away. Rachel loved the idea of having the opportunity to grow and make professional leaps and bounds right out of college, and we can say she hit the ground running when she started at CK and has never looked back. She has been an amazing asset to the team the past two years!
I enjoy the process of it all. Seeing things being put together and getting to know the how and why. Even the paperwork, the nerd side of me is revealed with how excited I get with setting up a crisp new atlas and project folder and color-coding my drawings.
Name: James Jones Position: Team Lead
James is a multi-talented team lead who, unbeknownst to many, is an undercover artist. He went to art school, sold his own comic books, and designed custom t-shirts and sneakers. Besides already being a creative genius, if James could have one superpower, it would be super intelligence. This would allow him to figure almost anything out super quickly, avoid many issues, and even find ways to gain other powers. At CK, we like to think James already has those superpowers as he is known for being a proactive problem-solver who goes above and beyond to mitigate issues and deliver quality projects for our clients. James joined CK for the opportunity to work in a different environment, learn about other sectors of construction that he had not previously worked in and our recruiting pitches over the years finally wore him down! We are excited to see what James will create next.
I enjoy the lessons learned part of construction. The lessons aren't easy to experience and accept in the moment but when I can help others and myself improve then I am able to recognize that the results of my hard work are paying off.
Name: Gabby Miller Position: Culture & Engagement Lead
Gabby has her finger on the pulse of what is happening at CK. As the Development & Engagement Coordinator, there isn’t much that Gabby isn’t taking care of or managing. From recruiting to marketing to project management, Gabby excels at it all. On top of her wide array of skills, not many people know that Gabby is fluent in Spanish. If Gabby could have one superpower she would choose to have the ability to teleport so that she could make all of her usual stops (which usually involves her stopping to bring everyone coffee) but still arrive on time everywhere. Gabby came to CK because she enjoyed the culture and appreciated the fact that there was a strong emphasis on community and collaboration. We couldn’t agree more and appreciate her role in building the award-winning culture and community at CK, and we can’t wait to see what she masters next!
I enjoy the fact that in construction no two days are the same. You are able to utilize your skills in different ways on a daily basis and have the opportunity to see an array of different projects transform dramatically in a short span of time.
Name: Mike Turner Position: Senior Construction Professional
Mike is a client-service-driven senior superintendent who is just as passionate about building out spaces for clients as he is about building relationships. While his client service skills are top-notch, not many people know about his ability to make any pair of Crocs look good (although we as a team don't find this hard to believe since we see this skill often!). If his stylish Crocs weren't his superpower already, Mike would choose the ability to control animals. Because land, air, and sea travel would be easy, and he feels pretty confident he could beat any supervillain in any environment with his animals. Mike was drawn to CK for its workplace culture and the endless cool supply of CK swag. Mike brings his sense of humor, positivity, and a can-do attitude to everything he does, and we are lucky to have her as part of our growing team.
I enjoy watching a project come full circle and reflecting back on what it took to get to the final product.
Name: Kevin Snyder Position: Construction Professional
Kevin is our fearless construction professional who has a passion for renovations and woodworking in his spare time. Kevin’s enthusiasm for all things construction is contagious. While many know about his passions, his best skill is that he is not afraid to try anything and is confident in his ability to complete any task. Although we can think of several superpowers Kevin already has, if he could choose one, it would be time travel for many reasons, but the main one would be to buy bitcoin at its lowest. As one of our superintendents out in the field, Kevin was drawn to CK after meeting the team, and he’s never looked back! Kevin loves building more than just projects, he enjoys building relationships, and we are excited to see what Kevin builds next!
What I enjoy most about construction is the process each trade goes through and seeing the final product.
Name: Rick McIntire Position: Senior Construction Professional
Rick is one of CK’s Senior Superintendents. His strong interpersonal skills drive his customer service-focused approach on each of his projects. Even though we think customer service is Rick’s superpower, if he could choose a superpower, it would be time travel so he could witness different periods of history in real-time such as the Coliseum or Chicago when Al Capone was running wild! Rick joined CK in its earliest days because he was at a professional crossroads and took a chance on CK and its founder because he believed in the mission and vision and wanted to be a part of something from the beginning. He never thought it would be as special as it is today and never realized through it all he would end up loving the crazy construction world as much as he does. Rick is the embodiment of CK’s values. His passion and commitment can be seen on every project in the way he manages project schedules all the way through to working with our subcontractor partners. We appreciate Rick’s passion and commitment to our mission and can’t wait to see what he builds next!
What I enjoy most about construction are the PEOPLE first and foremost. The different relationships whether it be C|K, subs or ownership, I truly believe some of those relationships go beyond the jobsite or owners meeting. I also really enjoy the different challenges day to day, I love digging into whatever challenge is presented and knockin' it down. And let's not forget DEMO DAY who doesn't love DEMO DAY, break the walls down and give us a clean slate.
