CK Commercial Receives ABC Diamond Level STEP Recognition for Fourth Consecutive Year

CK Commercial is thrilled to share that we’ve been honored with the Diamond Level STEP (Safety Training Evaluation Process) award by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). Achieving this prestigious designation for the fourth consecutive year is a testament to our relentless pursuit of safety excellence in every project we undertake.

This recent recognition marks CK Commercial’s sixth year of participation in ABC’s STEP Safety program and our continued commitment to maintaining and improving our safety standards to the highest level. Being recognized at the Diamond Level underscores our dedication to creating a safe working environment for all our team members, subcontractors, and other teaming partners. This achievement reflects our company-wide value of prioritizing safety above all and ensures that we continue to lead by example in the construction industry. We are proud of our team’s hard work and  commitment to safety excellence.

“Our achievement of Diamond Level for the STEP Safety Program for the fourth consecutive year is a testament to our unwavering commitment to not just meet but exceed industry safety standards. Safety is not just a priority at CK Commercial; it is a core value deeply ingrained in our culture. Each team member plays a pivotal role in creating a safe working environment, and this accolade is a reflection of our collective effort to uphold the highest safety standards,” said Mike Crim, Founder/Lead Strategist of CK Commercial.

Founded in 1989 as a safety benchmarking and improvement tool, STEP has evolved into a world-class safety management system that dramatically improves safety performance among participants regardless of company size or type of work. Participating ABC member firms measure their safety processes and policies on several key components through a detailed questionnaire with the goal of implementing or enhancing safety programs that reduce jobsite incidents.

CK Commercial Named an Honoree for the 2024 Baltimore Business Journal Best Places to Work Awards

After a two year hiatus and achieving Hall of Fame status for the Micro category, CK Commercial has made its way back on the list for the 2024 Baltimore Business Journal Best Places to work in the Small category. To qualify, companies have to have ten or more employees with a headquarters or presence in Baltimore City or Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Cecil, Harford or Howard counties. After meeting the initial criteria, companies participate in an employee engagement survey, and based on the results of those surveys, they are assigned a score of 100% by Quantum Workplace. The surveys gauge employee overall engagement and other areas such as leadership, culture, benefits, diversity, equity and inclusion and more.

CK Commercial Founder and Lead Strategist, Michael Crim, emphasizes CK’s People-first philosophy: We truly believe in putting people first and fostering a positive work environment. It’s not just the right thing to do, but it’s also a smart business strategy. Our team’s well-being and growth are essential to driving innovation, productivity, and ultimately, success. So, as we move forward, we’ll always keep this principle at the heart of every decision we make.

The reveal of the rankings will take place during the Best Places to Work ceremony, which will be held May 16 at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. It will also be featured in the May 17 edition of the Baltimore Business Journal.
